Engine Sputtering When Driving Uphill o r Under Load

A common complaint in older Santro models is that the engine begins to sputter o r lose power when climbing hills, carrying passengers, o r when the AC is turned on. The engine struggles to maintain speed and sometimes produces a knocking sound. What issues might be responsible for this loss of power and sputtering under load, and how can the problem be diagnosed?

Dirty fuel injectors very common in Hyundai Santro

Weak fuel pump o r clogged fuel filter

Carbon buildup on throttle body o r IAC valve

Faulty spark plugs o r weak coil pack

Air leaks near throttle body, intake manifold, o r hoses

Worn-out oxygen sensor O2 sensor

Solutions:

Perform injector cleaning ultrasonic fuel injector service recommended.

Replace the fuel filter and check fuel pump pressure.

Clean throttle body, MAF sensor, and IAC valve thoroughly.

Install new spark plugs and inspect/replace coil pack if misfiring.

Check intake hoses for cracks and fix any air leaks.

If the engine still sputters, scan for O2 sensor errors and replace if needed.
