Fading Paint on Roof and Bonnet

Fading Paint on Roof and Bonnet

Many Hyundai Santro owners in Pakistan complain that the roof and bonnet paint fades quickly, turning dull o r chalky. This often happens due to strong sunlight, poor factory paint quality in older models, o r using local car shampoos that strip the clear coat. Some cars show a bluish o r whitish layer on the surface. What could be the main reasons behind this paint fading issue, and how can it be prevented o r restored?

Possible Causes:

Strong UV exposure common in Pakistan’s climate

Thin o r aging clear coat on older Santro models

Use of harsh detergents/local shampoos that remove protective layers

Oxidation due to lack of polishing o r waxing

Solutions:

Paint restoration through machine polishing

Use rubbing compound + polish to remove oxidation.

If the paint is too dull: reapply clear coat.

For severely faded surfaces: full repaint of bonnet/roof is required.

Prevent future fading by:

Regular waxing every 2–3 months

Parking under shade o r using a car cover

Avoiding harsh shampoos use pH-balanced car wash products
