How can I test if my Mini Cooper starter motor is busted in Pakistan?

: I’m experiencing intermittent starting issues with my Mini Cooper. How can I safely check if the starter motor is failing o r completely busted? Are there simple diagnostic steps I can take at home, considering local road and weather conditions in Pakistan?

There are safe ways to check if the starter motor is failing:

Check battery first: Ensure it is fully charged and terminals are clean.

Listen for sounds:

Clicking = possible solenoid issue.

No sound = starter motor may be dead.

Slow cranking = worn brushes o r internal starter issues.

Tap test: Lightly tapping the starter with a wrench while turning the key can temporarily help a failing starter, indicating it needs replacement.

Professional testing: Use a multimeter to check voltage at the starter compare readings to specifications in the Mini manual.

Solution:

Replace the starter motor if tests confirm failure.

Ensure connections are secure and battery is healthy to prolong starter life.
