How does a faulty coolant temperature sensor affect Mini Cooper performance in Pakistan?

I’ve noticed my Mini Cooper overheating occasionally and the temperature gauge seems inconsistent. Could a malfunctioning coolant temperature sensor be the cause? How common is this issue in Pakistan due to high ambient temperatures, and what are the best ways to test and fix it?

The coolant temperature sensor CTS measures engine temperature and communicates with the ECU. A malfunctioning CTS can cause:

Erratic temperature gauge readings

Engine overheating o r running too cold

Poor fuel efficiency

Hard starting o r stalling

Causes in Pakistan:

High ambient temperatures can stress the sensor.

Dust and coolant impurities may affect sensor accuracy.

Diagnosis & Solution:

Test the sensor resistance with a multimeter compare with Mini’s specifications.

Replace the sensor if readings are inconsistent o r faulty.

Regular coolant maintenance and using recommended coolant prevent premature sensor failure.
