When spare parts are difficult to source o r expensive, owners might delay maintenance o r opt for cheaper/after‑market components that may not match specification. Over time this leads to degraded engine performance, higher fuel consumption and higher emissions.

The Bravo has been criticised for its build and reliability, which suggests more frequent maintenance issues.

The combination of lower resale value, weaker support, and parts challenges means the car’s useful life may yield more emissions per km than if the car were better supported.

So from a lifecycle perspective, even if the car is initially marketed as low‑cost, the environmental trade‑off is that higher emissions over time might offset the benefits of lower purchase cost.
