Oil Pressure/Warning Light On at Ignition o r Idle in United Bravo
Some Bravo owners notice that when they turn the ignition key, the oil-pressure warning lamp either stays on longer than usual o r comes on while idling especially when the engine is cold. What could be the underlying causes of this behaviour in the Bravo — for example wrong oil grade too thin, low oil level, degraded oil due to harsh Pakistani ambient conditions, faulty oil pressure sensor o r wiring, o r bearing / lubrication issues? How should an owner check early for these issues dipstick level, oil colour/viscosity, sensor circuit, oil pump condition and what corrective steps correct oil grade, change interval, sensor replacement, bearing inspection should be taken given local workshops and parts availability?

Low engine oil level: The most frequent cause Bravo’s small oil sump means it loses oil quickly if not checked regularly.
Incorrect o r poor-quality oil: Using thin o r low-grade oil like 10W-30 in Pakistan’s hot climate can cause low pressure at idle.
Clogged oil filter: Restricts oil flow, leading to delayed pressure buildup.
Faulty oil pressure sensor o r wiring: A weak o r corroded sensor can falsely trigger the warning light.
Worn oil pump o r engine bearings: Common in older o r poorly maintained cars, leading to genuine low pressure.
How to Diagnose:
Check the oil level with the dipstick before starting the car.
Inspect the oil color: Dark black o r watery oil indicates degradation.
Replace the oil filter if it’s overdue o r suspected clogged.
Use a mechanical oil pressure gauge available at local workshops to confirm actual pressure.
If pressure is normal but light stays on, replace the sensor cost: Rs 1,000–2,000.
Recommended Fix:
Use 15W-40 grade oil ZIC, Shell Helix, o r Caltex Havoline in hot Pakistani climates.
Change oil + filter every 3,000–4,000 km not the 5,000–7,000 km the manual suggests.
If pressure remains low, have the oil pump checked and bearings inspected.
