What causes excessive steering play in a Mini Cooper in Pakistan?

My Mini Cooper seems to have too much free play in the steering wheel, making it less precise while driving. Could worn tie rods, steering rack issues, o r suspension problems be causing this, and how common is this issue for Mini Coopers in Pakistan?

Excessive free play in the steering wheel is often due to worn components:

Tie rods and ball joints: Commonly wear out due to potholes and uneven roads.

Steering rack wear: Older Mini Coopers may develop slack in the rack over time.

Suspension bushings: Damaged o r loose bushings can create vague steering feel.

Detection and Solutions:

Lift the front wheels and check for play in tie rods and joints.

Inspect the steering rack for wear o r leaks.

Replace worn bushings and tie rods promptly to avoid unsafe driving.

Regular inspections are crucial on Pakistani roads due to rough terrain and potholes.
