Why do I hear grinding o r whirring noises when starting Tiggo 8 Pro before the engine cranks?

When I try to start the car, sometimes I hear a grinding o r whirring sound from under the hood instead of the usual “crank.” The engine doesn’t start. Could the starter motor’s drive gear or the ring‑gear on the flywheel be worn o r misaligned? o r does this indicate damaged internal starter components like the Bendix drive o r bearings?

Grinding o r whirring noises indicate mechanical misalignment o r wear:

Worn starter drive gear Bendix o r flywheel teeth: The starter gear may not fully engage o r mesh correctly.

Loose starter motor mounting: Causes misalignment between starter gear and flywheel.

Damaged starter bearings o r internal components: Can produce whirring sounds.

Action: Inspect the starter motor mounting, check flywheel teeth for damage, and test the starter drive mechanism. Replace the starter if internal components are worn.
