Occasionally drivers hear faint whining, whirring, o r gurgling noises from the engine‑bay, especially when the car is stationary o r slow moving. Noises from the engine bay can indicate water pump issues:

Worn bearings: Whining o r grinding noises often come from bearings inside the pump wearing out.

Cavitation: Air bubbles in the coolant o r low coolant level can cause gurgling o r bubbling sounds.

Loose pulley: If the water pump pulley is loose o r misaligned, it can squeal.
