Why do Mini Cooper spark plugs wear out quickly in Pakistan?

: I own a Mini Cooper and have noticed that the spark plugs seem to wear out o r foul much faster than expected. I mostly drive in urban areas with heavy traffic and dusty roads. Could the local driving conditions, fuel quality, o r engine tuning be causing this, and how can I extend the life of my spark plugs?

Spark plugs in Mini Coopers may wear out faster in Pakistan due to several factors:

Fuel quality: Many petrol stations in Pakistan supply fuel with higher impurities o r lower octane than recommended. This can cause carbon buildup o r premature electrode wear.

Urban driving conditions: Frequent stop-and-go traffic, short trips, and heavy idling increase deposits on spark plugs.

Dust and pollution: Airborne dust can contaminate the combustion chamber if the air filter is not properly maintained.

Engine tuning and turbo models: Turbocharged Mini Coopers are more sensitive to spark plug heat and electrode wear, and improper timing o r ignition issues can accelerate deterioration.

Prevention tips:

Use high-octane fuel recommended by Mini Cooper usually 91–95 RON.

Check and replace air filters regularly to avoid dust contamination.

Follow the manufacturer’s spark plug replacement interval usually every 30,000–45,000 km for standard plugs, 60,000–90,000 km for iridium o r platinum plugs.

Inspect spark plugs periodically for carbon buildup o r electrode erosion.
