“Why Does My AC / Cabin Ventilation Smell o r Blow Weak — Is the Cabin Filter All Choked Up?”

“Why Does My AC / Cabin Ventilation Smell o r Blow Weak — Is the Cabin Filter All Choked Up?”

Users sometimes complain their AC airflow reduces over time, o r smells dusty/earthy even after cleaning. Could a clogged o r old cabin‑air filter be the culprit — reducing airflow and letting dust/dirt accumulate in the ductwork? Especially on dusty Pakistani roads, how often should the cabin filter be changed for a healthy interior environment?

A clogged cabin-air filter can cause poor airflow and unpleasant odors:

Reduced airflow makes AC less effective and slows heating/cooling.

Dust, pollen, and debris trapped in the filter cause musty o r earthy smells.

Common in dusty Pakistani roads: Cabin filters get clogged faster than in cleaner environments.

Solution:

Replace the cabin filter every 15,000–20,000 km, o r more often in dusty conditions.

Clean AC vents periodically.

A fresh filter improves air quality, AC performance, and passenger comfort.
