“Why Is There Coolant Puddling Under My Tiggo 8 Pro — Did the Water Pump Just Leak Out?”

“Why Is There Coolant Puddling Under My Tiggo 8 Pro — Did the Water Pump Just Leak Out?”

Some owners find coolant s o r small puddles under the car after parking — even though there’s no obvious radiator leak o r external damage. Could this be a sign that the water pump seal is failing o r the pump housing has cracked? What should an owner look for when checking around the engine‑bay o r under‑carriage to confirm if the water pump is the culprit?

Coolant puddles under the car can be caused by:

Leaking water pump seal: Over time, the water pump’s internal seal can wear, allowing coolant to drip.

Cracked o r damaged pump housing: Rare, but possible due to heat cycles o r manufacturing defects.

Loose o r worn hose connections: Hoses connected to the water pump o r radiator can leak at clamps.

Other sources: Radiator, heater core, o r overflow tank leaks can mimic a water pump leak.

How to check:

Inspect the area around the water pump for fresh coolant.

Look for corrosion, residue, o r wetness on the pump housing o r nearby hoses.

Replace the water pump if the leak is coming directly from the pump’s shaft o r seal.
