Nov 16 2024I purchased the Sonata 2.5L a year ago, and after driving 10,000 km, I can confidently say it’s an excellent car in terms of comfort, styling, and overall value. The vehicle offers a smooth ride on straight roads, and the ground clearance is good, but the suspension is where it falls short. Despite using higher-profile tires, the suspension remains stiff and overly sensitive to uneven roads and potholes, which negatively impacts the overall driving experience in less-than-perfect road conditions.
Fuel efficiency is decent, with 10-11 km/l in the city and 13-15 km/l on highways with a light foot. However, one major concern is the throttle body, as the company recommends servicing it after every 10,000 km to avoid potential limping issues. At 5,000 km, I encountered an engine check light due to a faulty O2 sensor, which the company attributed to potentially bad fuel quality.
In terms of performance, the 2.5L variant doesn’t feel significantly different from the 2.0L variant I owned previously, aside from slightly better fuel economy. The torque and acceleration arent as impressive as expected for a 2.5L engine, and the car does feel underpowered if you’ve driven larger engines.
Additionally, maintenance costs are on the higher side, and spare parts can be quite expensive. Overall, while the Sonata 2.5L offers a lot of value and comfort, it does have a few drawbacks, particularly in terms of suspension and performance.
