Toyota IST 1st generation Overview

The 1st Generation Toyota IST was introduced in 2001 as a front engine front/four-wheel drive subcompact hatchback. It was developed to offer the practicality of a mid-size SUV with the fuel economy of a smaller vehicle. The Toyota IST was available in five variants and was competitively priced.

Exterior

The exterior of the Toyota IST features a minimalistic design with sharp upswept headlights, an angular chrome grille, a rectangular air intake, and side-swept taillights. All five variants have identical styling.

Interior

The interior of the 2001 Toyota IST has black plastic trim pieces, fabric seats, and standard features such as air conditioning, power windows, and stereo speakers. Higher-end variants feature automatic climate control, satellite navigation, and leather upholstery. The subcompact hatchback offers a good amount of interior space.

The Toyota IST is equipped with a 1.3-liter or 1.5-liter DOHC 16 Valve Inline-4 engine with a 4-speed automatic or 5-speed manual transmission.
