Denza B5 & B8: BYD's Luxury Hybrid SUVs Hit Australia

BYD's new luxury brand, Denza, is shaking up the Australian SUV market. They just announced sharp pricing for their powerful B5 and B8 hybrid off-roaders.
 
Denza aims to challenge big players like the Toyota Land Cruiser and Ford Everest. They offer more power and luxury features for a far lower price. Deliveries start early in 2026.
 

Denza B5: The Prado Killer

 
The Denza B5 is a new competitor for the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado and Ford Everest. It gives buyers a great mix of value and serious performance.
 
  • Price starts from just $74,990 plus on-road costs.
  • The top-spec B5 Leopard costs $79,990.
 
The B5 is a Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV). So, it uses a turbocharged 1.5-litre petrol engine with two electric motors.
 
  • Total Output is a massive 505kW and 760Nm of torque.
  • This power crushes the Everest V6 and Prado diesel figures.
  • It runs from 0–100km/h in just 4.8 seconds.
 
You also get great range and towing ability.

Denza B8: Land Cruiser 300 and Patrol Rival

 
The Denza B8 is a larger, more luxurious SUV. It targets the Toyota Land Cruiser 300 Series and Nissan Patrol.
 
  • The Seven-Seat model starts from $91,000.
  • The top Six-Seat model costs $97,990.
 
The B8 uses a larger 2.0-litre petrol hybrid system.
 
  • Combined output is 425kW and 760Nm.
  • It also hits 0–100km/h in a quick 4.8 seconds.
 
It offers better electric range than the B5.
 
  • A 36.8kWh battery gives a 100km electric range.
  • Total range is about 905km.
  • It boasts a heavy-duty 3500kg braked towing capacity.
 
The B8 features many luxury items as standard.
 
  • 17.3-inch touchscreen.
  • 18-speaker Devialet sound system.
  • Built-in refrigerator/hotbox.
  • Tri-zone climate control.
 
The six-seater is super luxury. It adds Nappa leather and power-adjustable, massaging second-row Captain's Chairs.
 
The B8 is also physically big. It is longer than a Land Cruiser Sahara.
