The global automaker resumed its operations in Pakistan in 2016 in partnership with Lucky Cement of the Yunus Brothers Group (YBG). The History of KIA Pakistan
The relationship between KIA Motors and Pakistan has been tumultuous. The company first entered the Pakistani market in the mid-1990s and launched the KIA Pride hatchback and 1-ton pickup, the KIA Ceres. However, due to its local partner at the time, Naya Daur Motors, the company had an unsatisfactory experience. In December 1998, Dewan Farooque Motor Company Limited (DFML) joined forces with KIA and Hyundai to assemble and sell their vehicles in KIA Pakistan market. DFML set up the first automobile manufacturing plant in the country with a capacity to produce 10,000 vehicles per year. However, in 2008, Dewan Motors went bankrupt, forcing KIA and Hyundai to leave the Pakistani auto industry.In 2017, KIA Car Pakistan made a comeback in Pakistan with the help of Lucky Cement of the Yunus Brothers Group (YBG). Since then, KIA Lucky Motors has been successfully introducing top international KIA cars in the Pakistani market.
