In January 2023, Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) stunned audiences at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) by unveiling a prototype under the new brand "Afeela." Two years later, during CES 2025, SHM made an official mark in the competitive electric vehicle (EV) market with the launch of their Honda Sony Afeela 1 EV. This Honda Sony electric car is their first collaboration in the automotive sector, showcasing SHM's serious ambition to reshape the future of mobility with advanced technology and luxury.

Afeela 1: Premium Trims and Pricing

The Afeela 1 debut electric car is designed to cater to the premium luxury market, available in two trims: Origin and Signature. The Origin is priced at $89,900, while the Signature comes in at $102,900. The Signature trim offers luxurious upgrades like 21-inch wheels, a rear entertainment system, and a center camera monitoring system. The Honda Sony Afeela 1 features position it in the same league as high-end vehicles such as the Genesis G90, BMW 7-Series, and Audi A8, with sleek color options including Tidal Gray, Calm White, and Core Black, alongside black or gray interior themes.

Innovative Technology Integration

Sony’s technological expertise shines in the Afeela 1 Honda and Sony electric vehicle through its cutting-edge features. The Honda and Sony Afeela 1 car launch introduces the Afeela Intelligent Drive, a Level 2+ driver assistance system, supported by 40 sensors for safety. It also features the Afeela Personal Agent, an AI voice assistant, and offers a range of entertainment options through a three-year subscription, including customizable screen themes and 5G connectivity. Additionally, the Media Bar on the front bumper displays essential information like charging status and traffic updates, further enhancing the vehicle's innovative design.

Interior Design and Comfort

The Afeela 1 is designed to feel like a "living room on wheels," blending luxury with comfort. The interior boasts a panoramic dashboard screen and Sony's advanced surround sound system, creating an immersive environment for passengers. The Afeela 1 Honda Sony collaboration focuses on a personalized experience with an AI personal assistant capable of engaging in natural conversations, setting the car apart as a mobility space where relaxation meets technology.

Performance, Range, and Availability

Performance-wise, the Afeela 1 stands out with a 91.0-kWh lithium-ion battery offering a range of up to 300 miles. The Honda Sony Afeela 1 EV comes equipped with an all-wheel-drive powertrain powered by dual 241-hp electric motors, offering excellent performance on varied terrains with its air suspension system. The vehicle will initially be assembled in Ohio, with California being the first market. Reservations are open for a refundable $200 fee, and while the Signature trim will be available in 2026, the Origin trim will be released in 2027. This vehicle marks the beginning of Honda and Sony EV debut, showcasing their commitment to reshaping the future of electric mobility.
