The Islamabad administration has implemented new regulations targeting vehicle registration and number plates. Under these updated rules, the traffic police will cancel registrations for vehicles that display fancy or prohibited number plates. This initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure adherence to standard number plate requirements.

To enforce these regulations, the Islamabad administration has issued a detailed notification outlining the penalties for non-compliance. Vehicles found with fancy number plates will face significant fines for re-registration. The fees are tiered based on the vehicle's engine capacity: Rs. 5,000 for vehicles up to 1,000 cc, Rs. 10,000 for those up to 2,000 cc, and Rs. 20,000 for vehicles exceeding 2,000 cc.

Motorcycles are also affected by these new rules, with a re-registration fee set at Rs. 1,000. This move is intended to standardize vehicle registration practices and eliminate non-compliant number plates from the roads.

Furthermore, the notification warns that persistent offenders will face increased penalties. For repeated violations, the fines will be multiplied up to five times the original amount. This escalating penalty structure aims to deter repeated non-compliance and reinforce adherence to the new regulations.
