2025 Toyota Corolla FX: A New Special Edition

The Toyota Corolla has been a staple in the automotive world for years, and for 2025, Toyota introduces a new special edition trim – the FX. One of the main highlights of this edition is the enhanced interior touchscreen interface, which now features a larger 10.5-inch display for better connectivity and navigation. The FX trim blends sporty accents, both inside and out, and gives a nostalgic nod to the Corolla FX16 from the 1980s. Along with these updates, Toyota has now released pricing details for this refreshed model.

Inspired by the Corolla FX16 of 1987

The 2025 FX trim is inspired by the sporty Corolla FX16 from 1987, which boasted a tuned 1.6-liter engine and front-wheel-drive performance. However, the 2025 FX doesn't carry the same engine legacy, keeping the existing SE trim's 169-horsepower 2.0-liter engine instead. This may be disappointing to fans of the original FX16, as the new version focuses more on aesthetic upgrades rather than performance enhancements. The powertrain remains consistent with the standard Corolla, offering 151 lb-ft of torque from its 2.0-liter engine.

Sporty Exterior Details

What sets the 2025 FX apart is its exterior styling. The trim features 18-inch satin black alloy wheels, black badges, black mirror caps, and a large rear spoiler. The FX also introduces a black roof that contrasts with the available paint colors, including Midnight Black Metallic, Ice Cap white, and Underground grey. These sporty touches create a more aggressive look, giving the Corolla a fresh and modern appearance.

Upgraded Touchscreen and Interior Features

One of the major upgrades in the FX trim is the larger 10.5-inch touchscreen, which replaces the standard 8.0-inch unit found in other Corolla models. This offers significantly more screen space for connectivity and navigation, enhancing the driving experience. The interior also features Moonstone sport fabric seats with orange accent stitching, and a 7.0-inch digital driver display, along with a wireless phone charger borrowed from the XSE trim. The 10.5-inch screen will soon be available as an upgrade across other 2025 Corolla models as well.

Advanced Safety and Availability

Toyota has equipped the 2025 FX trim with Safety Sense 3.0, a suite of driver assistance features that includes lane keep assist, adaptive cruise control, lane departure warning, and automated emergency braking. These safety features are standard across all Corolla models. The FX trim, along with the larger touchscreen, will be available in fall 2024 as part of the 2025 Corolla lineup.
