YANGWANG, the premium sub-brand of BYD, has made history by setting a new world record for production-car speed. On September 14, 2025, at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany, the BYD Fastest Car, the U9 Xtreme (U9X), clocked an incredible 496.22 km/h. This achievement surpassed both the World’s Fastest Electric Car benchmark and the top petrol-powered model, which previously hit 490.484 km/h.

Technical Brilliance of the U9 Xtreme
The BYD Supercar 2025 is based on the standard U9 but includes groundbreaking upgrades designed for record-breaking performance. Some of the Fastest BYD Car Specs include:

  • A next-generation 1200V ultra-high-voltage system (an improvement over the previous 800V setup)
  • A lithium iron phosphate Blade Battery with an impressive 30C discharge rate
  • Four ultra-fast electric motors generating over 3000PS and capable of 30,000 rpm
  • Advanced semi-slick tires for maximum grip
  • Revised DiSus-X suspension system, specifically tuned for high-speed track performance

These innovations not only make it the BYD Fastest EV 2025, but also prove that electric hypercars can outperform traditional petrol-powered giants.


Driver Behind the Record
The record-breaking run was driven by Marc Basseng, a seasoned German motorsport professional known for his success in endurance racing. According to Basseng, the smooth and consistent power delivery of the electric motors, without the interruptions of gear changes, allowed him to fully focus on the track—helping achieve the historic result for the BYD Speed Record Car.

Commitment to Innovation
Stella Li, BYD’s Executive Vice President, applauded the R&D team, highlighting that the BYD Electric Hypercar reflects YANGWANG’s vision of pushing the boundaries of innovation. She described the U9X as a milestone in both electric mobility and luxury performance. The BYD Hypercar Launch marks a significant leap forward for the global automotive industry.

Limited Production and Pricing
The Fastest Car in the World 2025 will be released in a very limited series of just 30 units worldwide. Its name, U9 Xtreme, symbolizes both “extreme” engineering and “exploration into the unknown.” With exclusivity at its core, the BYD Supercar Price is expected to reflect its rarity, cutting-edge technology, and world-record performance.
