Punjab Rolls Out Student Driving License Program
The Punjab Traffic Headquarters has launched an initiative to issue driving licenses specifically for college and university students. This decision, approved by the Additional IG Traffic, aims to improve accessibility for students who need driving credentials for both personal and academic reasons.
To implement this plan, directives have been issued to all City Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers (DTOs) throughout the province. Under the new guidelines, not only students but also administrative staff within educational institutions will be eligible for driving licenses. CTOs and DTOs will organize meetings with heads of colleges and universities to facilitate the licensing process.
To ensure smooth coordination, educational institutions will designate focal persons responsible for assisting students in obtaining their licenses. Furthermore, college and university administrations will provide transportation to testing centers, where students can access all necessary services for acquiring their driving licenses.
The Higher Education Commission of Punjab has also established specific guidelines for educational institutions to bolster this campaign, highlighting the commitment to enhancing student mobility across the province. This initiative represents a significant step toward making driving credentials more accessible to students, ultimately supporting their educational and personal development.
