Two New Electric Bus Routes Launched in Islamabad - Info

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has announced the launch of two additional Islamabad Electric Bus Routes, further strengthening the city’s eco-friendly transport system. As part of the growing CDA Electric Bus Service, these routes will connect more commuters to key destinations across the capital.

Details of the New Routes
The CDA has confirmed that two fresh lines will soon be added to the growing network of Islamabad Electric Bus Routes. These new services are aimed at improving daily commuting convenience and connecting more areas to the CDA Electric Bus Service.

The newly announced routes are:

  • G-9 Karachi Company to Faizabad
  • Nilor to Khannapul

With these CDA New Bus Routes, Islamabad’s eco-friendly public transport network will become more accessible and efficient for passengers.

Passenger Capacity and Future Expansion
At present, around 120 buses are active daily, serving nearly 60,000 riders. With depot upgrades in progress and the full fleet of 170 buses expected to be deployed soon, daily ridership is projected to cross 100,000. This move is a significant step in the Islamabad Green Transport Project, ensuring sustainable mobility for residents.

Passenger Concerns and Technology Integration
Despite the overall success, commuters have highlighted challenges in tracking buses. Unlike global standards, the current CDA mobile application does not yet display estimated arrival times. To address this, the authority has requested Google to integrate real-time tracking, enhancing Islamabad Metro and Electric Buses services and making them more reliable for daily users.

Improving Accessibility and Information
For better route awareness, CDA has been advised to distribute printed booklets at airports, railway stations, shopping malls, and bus stops. Additionally, information boards will be installed to guide passengers across all Islamabad Eco-Friendly Bus Service routes.

Commitment to Sustainable Transport
With these initiatives, the CDA Electric Bus Expansion demonstrates the authority’s focus on modern, environment-friendly, and passenger-friendly solutions. These efforts align with global practices while improving everyday commuting in the capital.
