NHA Hikes Toll Tax on Motorways and Highways

The National Highways Authority (NHA) has announced a significant increase in toll taxes for vehicles using highways and motorways, effective from October 1, 2024.

As per the updated rates, cars traveling on the Islamabad-Peshawar Motorway (M1) will now pay Rs. 460, up from the previous Rs. 350. Wagons will see their toll rise to Rs. 720 from Rs. 550, while buses will be charged Rs. 1,300, an increase from Rs. 1,000. Trucks will now pay Rs. 1,950, compared to the previous Rs. 1,500.

The toll tax increases have been extended to other major routes as well, including the Lahore-Abdul Hakeem Motorway (M3), Pindi Bhattian-Faisalabad-Multan Motorway (M4), Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M5), D.I. Khan-Hakla Motorway (M14), and the Mansehra Expressway.


For national highways, tolls for cars have risen from Rs. 40 to Rs. 50, while wagons will now be charged Rs. 90. Buses will face a new rate of Rs. 170. Two and three-axle trucks will pay Rs. 210, and articulated trucks will see their toll set at Rs. 460.

Additionally, higher tolls have been introduced at key locations such as the Kohat Tunnel (N55), Islamabad-Murree-Kohala Highway (N75), and Mianwali Toll Plaza (N135), meaning commuters across the country will face increased charges.
