Pakistan is currently confronting the looming specter of an impending petrol shortage, prompting widespread apprehension among its citizens. The genesis of this crisis lies in the suspension of petrol supplies initiated by the Oil Tankers Association in Rawalpindi. The crisis was set in motion when the Oil Tankers Association opted to cease petrol supply in Rawalpindi, citing their grievances as the catalyst. Consequently, several regions, including Azad Kashmir, aviation hubs, Hazara Division, Attock, and Gilgit-Baltistan, now teeter on the precipice of a petrol shortage.

This maneuver by the Association has ignited widespread concern throughout the nation, given that petrol serves as a vital lifeline for various industries and daily commuters alike.

The Association's List of Demands

The Oil Tankers Association has put forth a series of demands as part of their protest. Foremost among these demands is a substantial increase in the percentage of vehicles allowed to utilize the White Oil Pipeline transport system, currently capped at 65%. Additionally, they have advocated for an upswing in freight charges, a measure aimed at facilitating the reintegration of older vehicles into active service.

Furthermore, the Association has sought to raise local loading to 100%, accompanied by a 50% increase in overloading trips. These demands hold pivotal importance in addressing the issues faced by their members.
