Hybrid BYD Sealion 05 DM-i Launched at PKR 4.4M

BYD has introduced its latest compact SUV, the Sealion 05 DM-i, featuring the company’s 5th-generation DM plug-in hybrid system. The SUV is available in four variants, with prices ranging from 112,800 to 142,800 yuan, equivalent to $15,980 to $20,230 or PKR 4.4 million to 5.5 million. This model is being sold under BYD’s Ocean Network, the same as its sibling, the BYD Song Pro DM-i.

Battery Options and Powertrain
The Sealion 05 DM-i comes with two lithium iron phosphate battery options: 12.9 kWh and 18.3 kWh, providing a pure electric range of 75 km and 115 km under the CLTC cycle, respectively. Its powertrain includes a 1.5-liter naturally aspirated engine generating 74 kW (99 hp) paired with an electric motor that delivers 120 kW (160 hp). This combination results in BYD’s advanced 5th-gen DM hybrid engine technology, enhancing performance and efficiency.


Design and Interior Features
Adopting BYD’s “Ocean Aesthetics” design, the Sealion 05 DM-i has a sleek, modern appearance, featuring a wide front grille and integrated air intake. Inside, the SUV boasts a fully digital instrument cluster and a 15.6-inch rotatable touchscreen. Physical buttons on the center console control essential functions, while the car is also equipped with wireless charging, USB ports, and NFC smartphone key access.

Fuel Efficiency and Range
The Sealion 05 DM-i impresses with its fuel efficiency, consuming just 3.79 L/100 km in low battery mode based on NEDC standards and between 4.85-4.9 L/100 km under the WLTC cycle. It has an E-CVT transmission for smooth performance and a combined driving range of up to 1,400 km. The SUV also offers a 3.3kW external power output, making it useful for outdoor activities and emergency situations.


Comfort and Practicality
The Sealion 05 DM-i ensures driver comfort with electrically adjustable front seats, including 8-way adjustability for the driver. Its interior is accented with orange and blue stitching, and the cabin includes a panoramic sunroof. Cargo capacity starts at 407 liters but can expand to 1,430 liters with the rear seats folded, offering ample space for storage. This SUV is designed to prioritize fuel efficiency and practicality, making it a strong contender in the compact SUV market.
